How It’s Made
Each piece begins with photographs of the recipient’s actual home, which are carefully studied and transformed into a stylised relief carving while retaining the key features that make the property instantly recognisable. The design is then combined with themed elements chosen to reflect the family’s interests, memories, and personality.
Using CNC carving technology, the house, balloons, characters, clouds, and decorative frame are carved from wood before being individually refined by hand. Particular care is taken to create depth throughout the scene, allowing the house and surrounding elements to stand proudly from the background.
Once carved, the artwork is sealed and hand-painted using multiple layers of acrylic paints, washes, and highlighting techniques to bring the scene to life. Bright colours are used to create a sense of optimism and adventure, while the carved wooden banner is finished with personalised wording chosen specifically for the recipient.
The finished piece is protected with a durable clear finish, resulting in a unique handcrafted artwork that combines woodworking, carving, painting, and personal storytelling to celebrate a family’s new home and the adventures that lie ahead.
