Designed as a tribute to classic 1930s Hollywood architecture and vintage haunted hotel aesthetics, this piece combines layered relief carving with functional storage to create a decorative key rack inspired by old elevator lobby signage and forgotten hotel interiors. The composition focuses on depth, shadow and strong Art Deco geometric forms to capture the dramatic atmosphere of the attraction.
The main structure is CNC carved from solid timber using multiple depth layers to create the dimensional tower façade, elevator dial and architectural detailing. After carving, the piece is hand-sanded and individually painted using layered washes, metallic dry brushing and ageing techniques to create a worn bronze and copper appearance with subtle highlights and shadowing throughout. The lightning effects and darkened sky background are painted by hand to enhance the moody cinematic feel, while the decorative metal hooks provide a practical everyday function without overpowering the design.
